Ms. Tameika Turner-Haynes

Principal

Welcome to the Jenkins Elementary School community! I’m Principal Tameika Turner-Haynes, and I am thrilled to lead our dedicated team of educators and serve our wonderful students and families.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor of Arts from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA

  • Master’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix AZ

  • Specialist Degree from Mercer University in Atlanta, GA

With over twenty years in education, my journey has been diverse and fulfilling. I started my career teaching high school mathematics and history, where I developed a passion for fostering academic curiosity and critical thinking in students. My experience expanded to include special education at the elementary level, where I honed my skills in creating inclusive and supportive learning environments for all students.

In addition to my teaching roles in elementary and high school, I have served in various leadership positions in both elementary and middle schools. These experiences have shaped my approach to school leadership, which is centered on collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to every child's success.

Outside of the school environment, I am deeply committed to family life. As a proud parent of three children aged 23, 21, and 16, the family remains at the heart of my personal and professional journey. I find joy in learning and constantly exploring new ideas and educational trends, which seamlessly integrate into my educational philosophy.

Beyond education and family, I find creative expression in cooking, delighting in the culinary arts as a way to connect with loved ones and unwind from the demands of a dynamic profession. Traveling with family and friends is another cherished pastime, as it allows me to explore new cultures, gain fresh perspectives, and create lasting memories.

As an educator and leader, I believe that every child deserves a high-quality education that meets their unique needs and encourages their personal growth. My goal is to cultivate a school environment where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to achieve their best. I am dedicated to working closely with our teachers, families, and community partners to create a dynamic and supportive learning atmosphere.

I am excited to be part of a school that prioritizes excellence and student-centered learning. Together, we will continue to build on our strengths and strive for continuous improvement to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Thank you for your support and commitment to our school. I look forward to an inspiring and successful year ahead! Let’s make IMPACT!
