Fourth Grade

The fourth grade team works to support the individual academic needs of every student. Fourth grade students continue building on their reading skills and comprehension. They develop an ability to do in-depth research on informational topics and produce an informational writing piece. They work on creating opinion and persuasive writing with rich and descriptive language. Students will be able to solve multi-digit arithmetic problems. They will dive deeper into complex addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They will study fractions, solve measurement problems and be able to decipher the difference between parallel, perpendicular, symmetry and angles. They will research the solar system, the water cycle, light and ecosystems. They will learn about the history and geography of the US. They will learn about the American Revolutionary war, important founding documents, westward expansion and the Civil War.
