Engage, Equip, and Empower

The Office of Counseling, College & Career Services, and The Office of Health and Social Services Night will be held on Thursday, December 5th  virtually from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm presented by Dr. Demetria Williams, Director & Dr. Heather Alvira, Coordinator, and Crystal Baskerville, Director & Dr. Sandrea Jones, Lead Social Worker.

During this session, GCPS families of students in grades k-12 will gain valuable insights into counseling, college, and career resources available to students and family support options. Families will also understand the importance of consistent school attendance and its impact on student success.

Family Night on Community-Based Mentoring and Community Schools

The Engage, Equip, Empower Series presents the next Family Night on Community-Based Mentoring and Community Schools tomorrow Tuesday, October 22nd: presented by James Rayford, Academic Support Director, and Soraia Santos-Felgenhauer, Community Schools Director virtually from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm. During this session, GCPS families will learn how you can engage with GCPS as a mentor with the Community-Based Mentoring Program that pairs caring adults with students in grades 4 through 12 to provide guidance, encouragement, and support to help our students become successful young adults.

Families will also learn about The Office of Community Schools and the process for community organizations to partner in providing wraparound extension educational and recreational programs and services for our students to be successful.

Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Family Night on Thursday, October 3rd: presented Dr. Kyle Jones, and Sallie Holloway, Directors virtually from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm. 

During this session, GCPS families of students in grades K - 12 will receive information about Computer Science for All, Industry-Recognized Credentials, CTAE Program Access, and Future Readiness for Students.

Elementary Content Area Spotlight on Thursday, September 26th: presented by Julie Erdmann, Elementary ELA Director, Michelle Bellamy, Elementary Math Director, Dr. Jeremy Nix, Elementary Social Studies Director, and Kristin Luthi, Elementary Science Director all from the Department of Teaching and Learning virtually from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm. 

 

During this session, GCPS families of students in grades K-5 will receive information on how to support students at home with ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies in the first semester

During this session, GCPS families of students in grades K - 9will receive information about the i-Ready and MAP Universal Screeners, find out how they will help identify students’ strengths and areas of need, and how they support instruction for all students. Interpretation will be provided in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese.
